For just £30 you get a season of stimulating evening talks by big names in gardening, and visits to iconic gardens in the summer months. Why not come and join us?

All meetings, unless otherwise noted, are on the third Thursday of the month at 7.30 pm in Oxenhope Community Centre.

Admission, unless otherwise noted, is £5 for non members, members free. Membership is £30 per year.

19th March Camilla Anderson From Trade To Topiary - The Nabobs of the East India Company and their English Gardens
Camilla is an independent researcher in Garden History. After graduating with an MA in GH from the University of Bristol, she has developed a website (which you can view here) listing hundreds of the finest gardens in the UK which includes a short history of each garden.

16th April Kevin Pratt Woody Plants That Merit Attention

A garden speaker and lecturer for over 45 years, clocking up over 1000 lectures, the previous Owner of Village Plants Nursery and 35 years as a landscaper in Hale and Altrincham. He is known country wide for his experience and knowledge of plants, identification, growing and horticulture skills. Since 2019 he has been on the RHS Trials Committee, and Chair of the Nandina RHS Trials 2024, also a RHS GOLD medallist at Tatton flower show.

Plant identification is his speciality with a higher level of specialism in Alnus, Stachyurus, Fritillaria, Bulbs, Cupressus, Betula, Sorbus and the new Aria groups, also Berberis where he is one of the leading authorities, recently asked to identify plants at National trust Nymans, Edinburgh BG, Ness BG and Borde Hill.

As a garden designer and gardener he has worked for large gardens in Hale Altrincham, for footballers, Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons Raymond Blanc in 2005. He currently works for the world famous designer Lady Arabella Lennox Boyd CBE at Gresgarth garden as the database and plant records person for the past 3 years and plant identification and recently plant records at Loval Quinta arboretum Cheshire.

He is qualified in botany, soil science and horticulture and has held two national collections in the past, Fritillaria and Eucomis, he regularly writes for garden magazines and has a hard back book with David and Charles. “The gardeners guide Fritillaries.” and his recent collaboration work in the book, ‘What Gardeners Grow, 600 plants chosen by the world’s greatest plants people.’ (not his words)
